Recently internet sports guru extraordinaire, Pastapadre said on his blog what many people were thinking. LINK That EA's Season Ticket lacked value. It's a fair question.
And although it seems Operation Sports has become less of a place for meaningful discussions, and MORE of a place where you can't hinder Madden's marketing with comments (that place is as ban-happy as they come--its a wonder they still have ANY posters) there were posters there who pondered if the "real" reason Madden was delayed was to create a demand (hardcore Madden guys get antsy about mid-july) and thus spurn sales of the Season Ticket. Honestly, we can't say either way. Was the game finished? PROBABLY. Did they need time for more development? NO. The game ships with flaws every year. What incentive would they have to push back the release of the game more than three weeks?
Sadly, only one makes real sense. Sure, most people may not purchase it, but many will. And an extra $25 (almost half of the cost of the game) is all the incentive needed to try to pull of a caper like this. Sadly, its only the core (i.e. hardcore) player who feels the need to get the game as early as possible as many casual users wait for the game to be discounted during the holiday season. Let's hope Madden 12 caters to this hardcore group they're getting more money from unlike the debacle that was Madden 11.
