What Legends are Missing?

Isn't this what blogs like ours are for? In truth i'm almost embarassed writing this, it's a dirty job but I guess somebody has to do it. When we took a look at the rosters for the Legends in NBA 2K12 we were ecstatic, but we also had the hellish job of playing Devil's Advocate. Of saying to ourselves: "Who'd they leave out?"

Barkley's Suns - The year was 1993 and Charles Barkley reigned supreme. He won the MVP, and teamed with Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle and Tom Chambers. As good as this team was (as is the case with many really good teams during this era) Michael Jordan was in his prime and so they were never able to win a championship. A roster highlighted by Barkley everyone looks forward to playing with. Will Barkley just sign with 2K already? He's killing me!

Miller's Pacers - 1997. Reggie, The Davis Boys, Mullin, McKey and Rik Smits. This team was so close it took seven games for the Bulls to eliminate them. Apparently Miller is having some difficulty negotiating his likeness as well. Damn Shame. One of the great clutch performers in NBA history.

Seattle's Big Three -While this team didn't make the Finals thanks to the dominance of Magic's Showtime Lakers they were a force to be reckoned with. The high-flying X-Man, an in-his-prime Tom Chambers and Dale Ellis were a handful. They never broke through like Drexler's Trailblazers eventually did, but they sure were fun to watch. As lethal a threesome as there was in basketball.

Iverson's Sixers - In 2001 it all came together for Allen Iverson as his mixture of unstoppable one-on-one ability and his team's defense propelled the 76ers to the NBA finals after a grueling playoffs where every series went to an elimination game. Another team that lost to a great team of its era: The Shaq & Kobe Lakers. Who wouldn't want to drop 40 with Iverson and watch Mutombo wave his finger after blocks?

The 99' Knicks - The lockout shortened season made things interesting. No one expected this team to even leave the first round but they became the first 8th seed to ever reach an NBA Finals. After beating Miami in a thriller they went on to beat Atlanta and Indiana. While this team had an injured Patrick Ewing, it went on to the Finals because of one of the most dynamic swing-man combos in a redeemed Latrell Sprewell and Allan Houston. It also featured a young, active Marcus Camby and a solid but less athletic Larry Johnson. A team every real hoops fan would love to play with.
