Lets Build: The 2K GameChangers

Da_Czar's radio show a few weeks ago got our blog writers to thinking. NBA 2K SHOULD HAVE a group of hardcore players who can act as a sounding board/point of first contact for the 2K Devs. The 2K Community is in dire need of a team similar to the NBA Live Advisory Council. Its amazing to listen to some of the great ideas strewn about and how most hardcore players agree on the things that need to be fixed and the game's longtime issues. Imagine what an Advisory Council could do for NBA 2K? Going to 2K Headquarters for a sit-down would be nice, but in our minds a focused group could get just as much done via email, skype, conference calls and Google Docs. What we're proposing is simple: Lets take some initiative and start the dialogue that gets online play fixed and also takes gameplay to new heights. Next, lets gather like-minded individuals and start a grass roots version of the 2K GameChangers ourselves by turning our dialogue into action.

Want online fixed? Help outline what needs to be done. Want the spin-dunk and other exploits fixed? Let's address them in an organized fashion. Hate bad ratings or the fact that overall ratings aren't a good indicator of a player's effectiveness and value? Lets agree on a ratings legend and assemble a ratings team that rates every player/team accurately. All we're asking is that people contribute ideas and share the documents with people who want to help 2K be a better game. Who doesn't appreciate what Da_Czar did to expand playbooks? Never forget that it was a fan of the series (the oft-mentioned BEdwardsroy19) who tinkered with ratings and showed us a world where Kendrick Perkins couldn't catch Darren Collison on the break and CP3 could blow past Duncan on the perimeter. Let's ACT instead of COMPLAINING. We already have two Google Docs we've created so that we can help bring about some change for the better. Doc1, Doc2 We're hoping that luminaries like Da_Czar, the DLG team, Rashidi, Bedwardsroy19 and even guys like Steve from OS and Pastapadre can take time out of their busy schedules and shoot us a suggestion or two.

Our blog is committed to helping start something necessary, useful, great and being a platform for a static list of the best suggestions and the ideas that will change NBA 2K. How will you help?

Want to be a part of a major cooperative effort in hoops gaming? Let us know. Be sure to email us at magww@live.com and help be a part of real change.

  5. the early response to our initiative has been great! keep the responses and great suggestions coming. we're currently in the process of trying to setup the logistics for contact with the devs. thanks for all your support!

  6. Well I for one think it's sad that 2K Sports is not realizing they need more Community input themselves, and it's the Community reaching out to them. I give EA Sports props they realized they had a void between the Community & the Devs and acted to correct that ,and now we have the EA Sports Game Changers who seem to be doing just that, representing their Community and bridging the gap between gamer & Dev's

The other sad thing I see here is lack of creativity with what you guys want to call the group "2K Game Changers". lol

  7. *yawn* pretty sure most of the EA Gamechangers (the same people who say Madden is the GOAT every year) got called out as Yes Men on the Czar's show two weeks ago. No one falls for it anymore, they have zero credibility. If most of the GameChangers were anything more than secondary marketers, Madden 11 never even happens.

sadly it did and they aren't.

As i told you before...we wanted people to understand our intention and so we used the GameChangers name so people would understand the purpose. we'll come up with our own moniker.

  8. The EA Game Changers are far from yes men if you actually knew who they were. I bet you dont know a single person who actually attends the Madden Community Events anymore. You'd be amazed at what you see. When Madden 11 game out there were only 2 game changers that were attending those. Now there are over 15 each one and give great feedback. They want the game to be better just like everyone else does.

  9. we'll agree to disagree. and i actually know quite a few of the people who attend. so you'll have your opinion and i'll have mine. but sure, i understand it isnt all of them. we have a writer who's in the process of writing an article on the GC and he's collected quotes from them from the last 3 Maddens. the truth hurts. same old, same old brother. blanket praise regardless of quality is what he's found. guess what? that's not cool bro.

while its unrealistic to expect a person to get on twitter or message boards bashing the game after signing an NDA. A person who doesn't have the balls enough to discreetly let their fellow SIM gamers know that they should pass has zero cred.

a simple. "i'd wait until Madden 15" would tell everyone what they needed to know.

  10. The fact that you are using the name to get out the idea just bolsters the fact that the EAGC are doing something right. On one hand you say they are "yes" men, but then you want to utilize the name to show what your idea is about... pretty hypocritical if you ask me.

And I can tell you one thing.. if I was 2K and saw the this site I would not give it a second thought. It looks like it was designed by a 5 year old. If you want to be taken seriously, put your money where your mouth is and get a professional platform to launch your efforts from... this one ain't cuttin' it bro...

  11. That's just one of the many differences between you and I. We're fine with the blog. That's the same "on the surface" mentality that got you Madden 11 & 12 and NBA Elite. When what really counted (gameplay) was subpar. Its about content bro. And i'll state again for the record, for those hard of hearing or slow of wit: The name will change. SOON.

  14. they're not anonymous at all. I love google analytics. they give me all the name and location info I need. big brother is watching. lol.

  17. Yeah if NBA Live is any indication, the GameChangers ain't all that great of a thing. The way they have it now is pretty good. 2K listens to it's community already. There's wishlist sites on the forums or nba2kwishlist.com is another good one.
