Could 2K Football make a return?

Recently we've had the privilege of making a Twitter acquiantance with Gedden. To those who know him, he is one of the more passionate gaming football fans we've had the opportunity to be associated with. Well known for his Youtube videos, many people consider him a Madden Hater. In truth, all we see is someone with a high, non-compromising standard for football gaming. Having high standards ourselves, we understand many of his opinions and have decided to promote his videos when he sees fit to provide us with material.

So many of Madden's problem derive from the fact that many (though not all) of the so-called Game Changers (the people trusted with being Tibruon's conscience and the voice of the community) are little more than glorified Yes Men who play the game early, rail on endlessly about how much they can't tell us and then are pawns in the marketing effort. Would Madden be in this state (think of Madden 11, especially, anyone who tried to tell us that game was anything but horrible, LIED to you--and you know who you are) if they had the courage to tell EA when they've failed to deliver? We've gone on endlessly about how great a representative Da_Czar is specifically because he refuses to sell his soul and has always remained a knowledgeable, but critical-when-necessary intermediary to game developers. And even now, NBA Live is lucky to have someone as impartial as CoreySA on its Council--now all they have to do is listen to people like him.

Sucking up to Devs went out of style years ago. Tell the TRUTH. They'll respect you more in the morning.

To those who might criticize people like Gedden as fanboys, consider for a moment if NBA Elite 11 were the only hoops game on the market. Was that game genre-changing? Did it push the envelope or give you the best experience available? Few would say yes. Now imagine for a moment that another developer could provide a more realistic version of football than you are currently enjoying. Would that be worth exploring?

We'll let you make the call:

  3. what else can i do but agree with this? while devs have failed to innovate, at the same time those we've trusted to communicate with them have failed us horribly as well. but hey, atleast we know who to thank when we cant even finish an offline game because its not football.

  4. I agree with this article 100%. Gedden is a fellow TheSimStandard member and I support his efforts. I've been called everything from a 2K fanboy, to an EA Lover, to an EA Hater, and the truth is all I want is the best SIMUATION football game possible regardless of the company that makes it. My opinion is that 2K simply replicated football better than EA, especially in terms of the minor details. At this point if EA gets it right I will support them, but at the same time I think competition brings out the best in any company. More than one company making a football game means a win for the consumers.

  6. But would you? think about it for a second, if that was the only game on the market would you know there could be something better there for you? Or would you be satisfied with subpar because you didn't know better? food for thought.

  7. ur right. many of these game changers are bogus. "its the best madden ever!" they say the same thing every year.

  8. Been asking 2K sports to make a football game for years, I'd pre-order in a heart beat.

  9. You know what's amazing to me just played a few all pro 2k games and the face that players are on the sideline are somewhat interactive and also double penalties were called! I've never seen that in a madden game ever! Just somethings to add to the realism for me especially having the actual players and coaches on the sideline!
